Steven A. Spiker

Steven A. Spiker “Stevie”, 64 of Akron (Kenmore) OH, went home to be with the Lord, March 22, 2020. A life resident of the area he devoted his life to his children, his family, and his friends.  Steve worked in a rubber factory most of his life, Cardinal Rubber, Blair (Hyload) Rubber Company in Seville, OH until he could not work any longer.

Steve was preceded in death by his Parents, Frederick “Fritz” and Mary Spiker, his Sister-in-law Sue Spiker. Steve is survived by his son, Steven J. Spiker “Lil Steve” of Akron, his daughters, Michelle M. (Spiker) DeRosa (Phil M. DeRosa) of Akron, and Faith M. Spiker of Akron. Steve is survived by his brother Daniel M. Spiker of Barberton, his sister Theresa “Terry” (Lee) Arthur of Barberton, his sister Annette M. Jenkins (Jerry).  Steve left behind 5 nephews, 2 nieces, several cousins he held dearly, 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. 

Steve attended Kenmore High School in Akron, Ohio.  The greatest gift Steve gave to his community and to his family was the gift of music, after his all-time idol James Taylor.  Steve was a self-taught musician blessed with the gift of playing guitar by ear, turning melodies and lyrics into beautiful music that we will always hold dear to our hearts.

We do ask given today's circumstances, and in compliance with CDC recommendations, that you do not come if you are sick or possibly have been exposed to COVID19.  We also ask that very small children be left at home for their own safety.  We are also asking everyone to come as they are (My dad absolutely hated having to dress up for these occasions) So everyday clothes people!

Friends may call at the Prentice Funeral Home, 1154 Kenmore Blvd. on Monday, March 30, 2020 between 4-6 p.m. Services will be held at 6:00 PM., officiated by Rev. Michael B. Smith.  Family will be accepting flowers or donations accepted by the funeral home.
