John E McAvinew John E. "Jack" McAvinew, 88, was welcomed into his Heavenly Home by our Loving Father December 22, 2014. Dad was preceded in death by his wife, Donna of 63 years; and daughter, Jane Ranee. He leaves behind his nine children, Daryll, Nancy, Kathleen, Jean, Jack, Dennis, Denise, Mark and Matthew, a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, his sister, Carol; and devoted brother, Jerry; and lifelong friend, Bob Cox. Dad graduated from Manchester High School in 1944 and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of St. Paul's Church. Dad attended mass every Sunday that he was physically able. Dad so loved St. Paul's. He'd race down the hall in his wheelchair to catch the church van. Dad was the founder and owner of All City Furnace Cleaning for years. Dad's passion was for his "Volvos". Dad, for all of your disabilities, pain and health issues you never once complained and never gave up. You are such an inspiration for your family. Parish members, thank you for the care and kindness that you showed Dad. We also thank the people at the Villa and the Chapel Hill facility for their wonderful care, compassion and especially for the laughs. A Celebration Of Life service will be held at the Prentice Funeral Home, 1154 Kenmore Blvd. at 1 p.m. on Saturday, officiated by Father Matthew E. Pfeiffer. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. This will be your first Christmas in heaven with Mom. Merry Christmas to you both!
