John Joseph Brandl, 73 of Akron passed away on June 3, 2022. John was born in Akron on March 7, 1949 and graduated from Hoban High School (1967) and the University of Akron (1980). He served in the Air Force during the Vietnam era. He retired from General Tire and Circle K as an auditor. He belonged to a Vietnam Vets group called Tuy Hoa AB, Vietnam Reunion. John loved baseball, going for drives, airplanes and anything military. He was a civil war and history buff, had a wonderful sense of humor, infectious laugh and was great at doing impersonations.
John is preceded by his parents Steve and Stella Brandl, infant daughter Angela Brandl, daughter Kimberly Brandl and brother Michael J Brandl. He is survived by his wife of 50 years Judy (Zelenka) Brandl, sons Jeffrey (Elizabeth) Brandl and Nicholas Brandl, dog Phoebe, grandchildren Brielle Brandl and Nolan Brandl, sister Christine (Russ) Calvert, brothers-in-law John (Jennifer) Zelenka and James "Jimmy" Zelenka and many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the Prentice Funeral Home, 1154 Kenmore Blvd. on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at 7:30 pm officiated by Rev. Father Jeremy Merzweiler. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. Private family inurnment will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later date.
