Evangelist Edie F. Nunez, 77, of Akron, Ohio, went home to be with our Lord on the morning of June 11, 2023.
Edie was born in Akron, Ohio on June 27, 1945. She was saved on February 9, 1975, alongside her sister Landy, and dedicated her life to serving the Lord with the mission of expanding God’s kingdom. She was married to her soulmate, John Nunez, on November 9, 1963. They spent 59 wonderful years together, raising their two children and building their lives upon Christ. Their marriage was the perfect example of God’s love on Earth.
Edie is survived by her husband, John F. Nunez; her two sons, Steven Nunez and Patrick (Szilvia) Nunez; her five grandchildren, Daniel (Ryan) Wells, Michael (Somer) Nunez, Jessica (Brandon) Sparks, and Cloe and Jay Hovanec; her two great-grandchildren, Jamison Wells and Emilia Nunez. She is also survived by her brother Steve (Judy) Haydu, sister Landy (Ben) Toris, and brother John Haydu. She is preceded in death by her parents Ellen and Steve Haydu, as well as her brother Jim (Rita) Haydu.
Edie was loved by many; the impact she leaves behind is profound. No one was unchanged after meeting her: they were lighter, happier, and closer to God. Her joy was infectious, her faith was child-like and strong; her soul was as pure as gold, which radiated to those around her. She dedicated her life to the ministry of God, baptizing many, and creating disciples out of those who would choose to follow, up until the very day she passed. As she arrives at Heaven's gates, her work on Earth will be rewarded with many crowns which she will wear humbly.
One thing is for certain: Heaven is bigger because of Edie.
