Betty I. (McCombs) Plusquellic Channell went home to be with her Savior Jesus Christ on February 24th, 2024. She was born in Commodore, Pennsylvania. She moved to Akron as a teenager, and graduated from Kenmore High School. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Louie Plusquellic, second husband, Melvin Channell, father and mother, Arthur and Hazel (McCombs) Fleming, stepfather Charlie Fleming, brothers Doyle, Quay and Lyle, sisters Beula Hannaman and Louise (Bruce) Sunderland, son-in-law Joseph Putt, and granddaughter Lori Dixon.
She is survived by her son Donald (Amanda) Plusquellic, daughters Betty Lou Plusquellic, Karen (Steve) Dixon, and Denise Putt; stepchildren Richard (Barbara) Channell, Nancy (William) Calvin; grandchildren David Plusquellic, Michelle (Michael) Zupancic, Angela Ward, Bryan (Erin) Dixon, Jonathan (Chelsie) Putt; step-grandchildren Nicholas (Amy) Channell, Jonathan Channell, Matthew and Madison Channell, Joel (Melissa) Calvin, Nicole (Jonathon) Pedraja; great-grandchildren, Abigail, Alison and Adam Zupancic, Kyla Ward, Lani Mitchell, Anna, Evan, and Addison Plusquellic, Tyler, Paige, and Parker Dixon, Caroline, Ariana, Meliah, and Joseph Jericho Putt: step-great-grandchildren, Parker Channell, Lucy, Silas, and Reed Calvin as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
Betty was employed by the Polsky Company and JC Penney in the cash office. She also was an employee of The Connie Shop. After retiring, she volunteered at Barberton Hospital, Mobile Meals, the National Inventors Hall of Fame, the Hospice Center on Ridgewood Rd and read with students in her granddaughter’s classroom. She loved sewing, gardening and flower arranging. Betty was a loving mother who cared about her family and was a very loving wife. Betty was a member of the Community Church of Portage Lakes, Kenmore Historical Society and AARP Coventry Chapter #3820.
Funeral services will be on Thursday at 1:00 pm at Community Church of Portage Lakes 3260 Cormony Rd, Akron with Pastor Mike Rybka officiating, followed by burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Friends may call at Prentice Funeral Home 1154 Kenmore Boulevard on Wednesday from 5 to 8 pm and Thursday at the church from 12 to 1 pm.
