Barbara Ann (Smith) Soohey, of Akron, Ohio, passed away January 17th after a courageous battle with Cancer. She was an angel to all that knew her. She was a graduate of the Class of 1981, Kenmore High School and worked at Ohio Civil Rights Commission until she retired in 2017. Barb was known for her laughter, her love for the color purple and her nickname, “Bomber”.
She is preceded in her death by her parents Arthur and Doris Smith, her brother James Smith and long-life companion Steve Soohey. She leaves behind her children Gregory (Meaghan), her daughter, Brittany, Angela Kirn who was like a daughter and her precious grandchildren: Taylor, Scarlette and Leo, and her sister/best friend Sherri Smith, mother and father-in-law Wanda and Frank Soohey, in-laws Kathi, Martin, Lonnie (Chrystal) Soohey, special friends Bill, Karla, Laura and Lisa.
Barb was an awesome Aunt and will be missed by her nieces and nephews: Paul, Danica, Jacob, Brian (Ashley), Brandon (Jessica) Marty Jr., Crystal (Joe), Kimberly, Franklin, Butch, Dalton, Miranda (Scott), Tonya (Omira) and bunch of great-nieces and nephews. The Soohey family was blessed by having “Bomber” in their lives. Thank God for giving us Barb!
Memorial services will be held at the Prentice Funeral Home, 1154 Kenmore Blvd. on Friday, January 21, 2022, at 7:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Chris Decker. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
