On June 1, 2020, Audrey V. Reed Thomas gained her Angel’s wings and flew to heaven to be with her husband once again. Born January 24,1924, she lived a long wonderful life for 96 years. She was a proud Christian at Compass Christian Church (Formerly known as Kenmore Church of Christ). Audrey graduated from Kenmore High School with the class of 1941. She was a Rosie the Riveter during WWII. After the war she worked at the B.F. Goodrich, where she met the love of her life. She was a Cub Scout den mother, a dedicated life time member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the V.F.W, a member of Daughters of America, a member of Dames of Malta and a babysitter to more than 50 children throughout the years of her life. She enjoyed sewing, hiking, shopping, traveling with her husband, going to the VFW Lodge, and taking care of children. She had an outstanding amount of love and care for any and every child she ever met.
Preceded in death by her best friend & husband of 53 years - Lenuel M. Thomas, her mother – Mary Reed, father – Benjamin Reed, her brothers – Bob, Paul, Luke, Tom, Ben and Melton Reed, and her sisters Margaret Messner, and Francis Reed.
She is survived by her daughter – Sherri Thomas Francis (Tom), her granddaughter – Amber Starr, many nieces, nephews, and loved ones. Plus we cannot forget her little fur babies – Spikey(dog) and Tabby(cat) She will be missed dearly by everyone who knew her and loved her. And she will always be remembered for her tremendous amount of love and care for children, her big heart, and her famous chocolate fudge.
Viewing will be Friday June 5th at Prentice Funeral Home located at 1154 Kenmore Blvd, Akron, OH 44314 from 5pm to 7pm with services following directly after at 7:00 officiated by Pastor Dennis Reynolds. Private burial will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
Rest assured, social distancing will be taking place and masks need to be worn and will be available at the door for anyone who does not have one.
