"TOGETHER FOREVER" Vernon C. Baker Joann J. Baker Vernon C. Baker and Joann J. Baker, of Springfield Twp. passed away a day apart on April 14 and 15, 2015 respectively. They were happily married for 66 years and lifelong members of Clearview United Methodist Church. Jo was a loving mother and housewife and a member of Eastern Star Anna Dean Chapter # 595. She was preceded by one sister and survived by brother, John "Sonny" Williams. Vern retired from Loral in 1988 after 41 years of service. He then worked seven years at Hanes & Co. as a mechanic/restorer of antique cars. He loved antique cars and was a member of Rubber City Model A Club, NOMAC and AACA. He was also a longtime member of F&AM Mt. Akra Lodge # 680. Vern was preceded by three brothers and one sister. Vern and Jo are survived by sons, James (Joan) Baker and David (Lynda) Baker; daughter, Barbara (John) Crist; 11 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at Clearview United Methodist Church, 1733 Massillon Rd., Akron 44312, officiated by Pastor Linda Bradley.
