Kay W Fluke, PhD, 86 of Akron passed away December 3, 2017. Kay served in the U.S. Air Force at the conclusion of the Korean War and honorably retired from the reserves as a captain in 1967. He earned his Bachelors and Masters degrees from the University of Akron and his Doctorate from Pacific Western University. He began teaching at Thornton and retired from Firestone High School in 1962. He was a proud member of SCERTA, ORTA, NEA, NEA-R, OEA, OEA-R, the American Legion the Kenmore Historical Society and First United Methodist Church. Kay is preceded by his parents Charles Wesley Fluke and Kathryn Wilna (Kay) Fluke. He is survived by his wife of 38 years Nancy Fluke, children Kenneth Wesley (Lesley) Fluke and Amy Kathryn (Tony) Robinson, grandchildren Kent (Randi), Erica (DJ) and Collin, niece Candace (Tony) Bloedorn and their boys Parker and Luke. Funeral services will be held at First United Methodist Church of Akron, 263 E. Mill St., Akron on Thursday at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Dr. Leonard Budd. Burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Friends may call at the Prentice-Conley Funeral Home, 1154 Kenmore Blvd. on Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., and from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. at the church Thursday.
