Obituary

Harold Greathouse, 88, of Akron passed away on May 5th, 2018. He was born July 31st, 1929 in Spencer, W.Va. He lived on 17th St. SW in Kenmore for over 50 years. He spent his remaining years at National Church Residence in Cuyahoga Falls. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked many years at General Tire. He retired from Albrecht Grocery Acme #18 in Kenmore. He enjoyed the leisurely things in life. Watching western movies on the tv. Getting coffee drunk at the local Krispy Kreme. But his biggest passion was being outdoors playing golf. Harold was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Gisela; mother, Laura Parsons; brothers: Earl, Bill and Frank; and sister, Vernabelle Rowan. He is survived by his sons Gerald (Cindy) and Gregory (Lissa Wolfe); grandchildren, John and Anjelika; great-grandchildren, Macy and Samuel; sister, Doil Greathouse; and many nieces and nephews who fondly knew him as their Uncle Park. Funeral services will be held at Prentice Funeral Home, 1154 Kenmore Blvd. on Saturday May 12th at 4 p.m., officiated by Rev. Duane Matthews. Friends and family may visit and pay their last respects from 2 to 4 p.m. Private burial will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
