Gerald F. O'Neal Gerald F. O'Neal, age 82, passed away March 27, 2015 in Florida. He was born January 24, 1933 in Akron, Ohio. After graduating from Kenmore High School, Jerry served four years in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict then returned to Akron and earned his BS degree from the University of Akron. He was employed by GEICO in Chevy Chase, Md. for 25 years and took early retirement in 1986. He continued working as a planning consultant for several years and then moved to Florida in 1992. Jerry was preceded in death by parents, G. Dewey and Grace O'Neal; and brother, James. He is survived by his beloved wife, Elsa, of Winter Park, Fla.; sister, Patricia Rathmell, of Wadsworth; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at the Prentice Funeral Home, 1154 Kenmore Blvd., Akron, on Saturday, April 18 at 11 a.m., with Dr. Linda Somerville officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
